Scriber v. Lima

On November 21, 2007, Mr. Scriber died as a result of negligent management of his post-operative care following hip replacement surgery. Following surgery, Mr. Scriber was placed on anti-coagulation therapy to prevent blood clotting, which was required by the standards of care. His doctors acted negligently by prematurely discontinuing his anti-coagulation therapy and by not properly monitoring him. As a result, Mr. Scriber developed a blood clot, went into septic shock and developed a deadly infection that he never recovered from. After trial, a Baltimore City jury awarded the family $450,000.000.
