Pittman v. Mid Atlantic Cardiology
May 2009
On May 22, 2009, Ms. Pittman died during a routine cardiac catheterization due to a deadly allergic reaction, as a result of her doctors' negligence. Ms. Pittman's doctors failed to provide appropriate clinical and diagnostic studies prior to her surgery that would have revealed Ms. Pittman's allergy and pre-existing medical history. Had the doctors conducted a proper review of Ms. Pittman's medical history and conducted the required consults, she would not have died. After trial, a Baltimore City jury returned a verdict in the family's favor for $1 million.
